November 21, 2017 I had an emergency with my green cheek conjure "Rio". The entire staff was professional throughout the entire ordeal. They were caring and explained all possible options. Unfortunately, the situation was dire and Rio was euthanized to avoid anymore suffering. The vet was compassionate and provided me with the information I needed. I asked to take Rio home and have to say was touched by the way he was presented to me. They took a great deal of care when preparing him for me. A few days later I received a handwritten card with forget-me-not seeds from the doctor. I also received a letter stating that a donation was made in honor of Rio's memory to the Bergen County Zoo from the hospital. These small acts of kindness have helped in with my grieving. Thank you for you attentiveness. It will never be forgotten.
Fantastic care and service for over 20 years. They are professional, caring and the best staffed facility in the area. Our Doctor, Dr. Joe De Santo, has been our primary veterinarian from the start and he is wonderful with our pets.
Simply put Oradell Animal Hospital saved my dogs life. I had been to many vets and animal hospitals before, for about 2 years by dog kept getting sick and no one could figure out why. Or rather no one cared, they kept giving us wrong diagnoses and making us waste money. It was not until we went to Oradell at night when our dog was literally dying that we found out she had a liver shunt. Needless to say, she was taken care of, had surgery and is not having problems anymore. I will admit that is was not cheap, the blow was lessened by the fact that we have pet insurance (something everyone should have). But it was worth it, and I will forever be grateful to Oradell Animal Hospital.
Your local animal hospital may actually be better than Oradell. I've been going to Oradell for years, only because my dog's surgeon was there. Not a good reason at all. The only really outstanding doctors are the board certified surgeons. They are very good... but the rest of the vets? They are worse than local vets near me and many are young students. The older doctors have quite snippy attitudes at times and I've yet to find a thorough vet there. They have you coming back and spending a ton of money with no real insight or solutions. They do not have a board certified dental vet, so they just always say... 'oh the dog's teeth are okay'. Well, twice now my dog has had massive infections. I now have to travel to a board certified dental vet. They have a long waiting list for teeth cleaning and discouraged me from doing it. I've had enough. Good grief, they never opened my dog's mouth to look inside. I had to open my own dog's mouth and ask them to look inside! The one surgeon I used was outstanding, so I'll give the place three stars. Have a good local vet and only use Oradell for specialists. I found a local vet that was so much better than any vet at Oradell for a check up. I finally feel I have solutions.
